TT GYM UPGRADATION

The Table Tennis Advisory and Management Committee of Royal College has recently undertaken a significant upgrade by replacing the existing  table tennis tables with four brand new, international standard(ITTF) tables. This project, which incurred a cost of nearly one million rupees, was generously sponsored by the Royal College Union.

The official handing-over ceremony of these new table tennis tables took place on 30th October 2024 at the College Table Tennis Gymnasium . The event was graced by the presence of the Principal, Mr. Thilak Waththuhewa, along with Deputy Principals, the Senior Games Master, the Table Tennis Master in Charge, representatives from the Royal College Union, members of the Advisory Committee, parents, and the table tennis players of the school.

The replacement of the table tennis tables was a timely and strategic decision made by the Advisory Committee, with the support of the Royal College Union, to enhance the quality of the sport at the school. In recent times, our players have won many championships including National School Games, Inter School Under 19, Under 18, Under 16 championships/ Runner-ups and represented National/Junior National Teams locally and Internationally. All these tournaments are conducted on latest championship tables and hence it was crucial for our players to practice in similar tables to acclimatize for tournament conditions so that they can bring glory to the College in the future as well.

With the introduction of these new tables, players now have the opportunity to practice on equipment that meets the international standards, thereby improving their potential and performance in the game.

In his address at the event, the Principal emphasized the importance of utilizing these new facilities with due care. He urged the students to make the most of these resources to achieve outstanding results in table tennis, both for the College and for the country.
