The Group of ‘89 funded a project that enabled the public to use the ECMO unit at NHSL with a total cost of LKR 6.3 million. An ECMO unit was previously only available in the Karapitiya Hospital and limited the public access to it. The former positive pressure room is now being used by at-risk patients that shouldn’t be exposed to bacteria and viruses after operations.
