Royal beat Trinity on the first inning in the semi-final played at Singha Regiment Grounds Ambepussa and entered the final of the Under-19 Division One Tier A — 2-Day Inter Schools Cricket Tournament 2024/25 conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday. In reply to Royal’s 331 all out, Trinity were 185/5 at close on day two with first XI debutant Malika Vithanage poised to make his maiden century. Unfortunately, Malika missed out on his century by just 5 runs as the Royal bowlers captured the remaining 5 wickets for just 37 runs and Trinity were all out for 212 runs in 85.2 overs. Ranuka Malavarachchi claimed 5 wickets for 70 runs. Royal had scored 128 runs for 3 wickets in 42 overs when the match was stopped at tea. Isula Geeganage (38*), Hirun Liyanarachchi (31), Dushen Udawela (30) and Yasindu Dissanayake (19*) helped to build their inning. Royal will now meet St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa in the final at P. Sara Oval Stadium next week.
