Royal College Union Annual General Meeting 2025

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Royal College Union was held on Saturday, 19th July 2025 at the historic Royal College Main Hall. The meeting commenced at 5.00 p.m., with a large gathering of members representing several generations of Royalists.

During the AGM, the following appointments and reappointments were confirmed for the year 2025/26:

Main Office Bearers:

  • President (Ex-officio): Athula Wijewardene, Principal of Royal College
  • Secretary: Aruna Samarajewa

His reappointment was proposed by Mr. Nihal Seneviratne, former Secretary of the RCU, and seconded by Mr. Nimal Dias Jayasinghe, also a former Secretary and the house unanimously approved

  • Assistant Secretary: Pasan Wanigasekera

Mr. Nadun Chandraratne, who served as Assistant Secretary, had formally informed the Union of his decision not to continue in the role due to personal and professional commitments. In light of this, Mr. Pasan Wanigasekera was proposed by Mr. Manju Ariyaratne to take up the position which the house unanimously approved

  • Treasurer: Maduranga Kulathilake

His reappointment was proposed by Mr. Channa Gunasekera which the house unanimously approved

  • Assistant Treasurer: Muthusamy Ananthevel     

His reappointment was proposed by Mr. Maduranga Kulathilake which the house unanimously approved

  • Recorder: M. L. Fernando
  • Assistant Recorder: Buvindra Ilangage
