The official commissioning of the 40kW Solar Power System at the Royal College Pool Complex took place on the 20th of June 2025. The momentous occasion was marked by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the Principal of Royal College, Mr. Athula Wijewardena, in the esteemed presence of the Secretary of the Royal College Union, Mr. Aruna Samarajewa. Also in attendance were members of the Executive Committee of the Royal College Group of 92, office bearers of ORGACO, the Board of Management of the Swimming Pool, and the generous donors who made this project possible.
This significant project, initiated and spearheaded by the Royal College Group of 1992, is a shining example of the enduring bond shared by the alumni and their unwavering commitment to the betterment of their alma mater. It stands as a testament to the power of unity, vision, and purpose, demonstrating what can be accomplished when dedication and collaboration come together in service of a shared goal.
The newly commissioned solar power system not only enhances the sustainability of the Pool Complex but also reinforces the College’s commitment to green energy and responsible environmental stewardship.
